Welcome to GFWC
General Federation of Women’s Clubs
An alliance of women who volunteer in and for their communities!
GFWC - Battle Ground is affiliated with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international group of women’s service clubs who volunteer in their communities. The local club is active in GFWC - Columbia District in Southwest Washington, a district of 11 clubs and the state federation of 40 clubs, GFWC - Washington State.
Although not required, GFWC clubs offer opportunities for leadership development and an understanding of a wide array of topics. Club interests fall into six main categories or departments: The Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Affairs and Public Affairs. Each club decides what areas of service are of most interest to their members.
The motto of GFWC is “Unity in Diversity.” Clubs within the Federation are united although clubs carry out their volunteer projects in varying ways. GFWC clubs are not locked into one topic or issue and they have the freedom to change their foci at any time as the needs of the community and the members change.
GFWC - Battle Ground’s mission is to dedicate itself to community improvement by enhancing lives of others through volunteer service.
GFWC is one of the world’s oldest and largest women’s service organizations dedicated to community improvement through volunteer service. For more information on the programs of GFWC at the national level, go to the international headquarters website at www.gfwc.org.
